About Mark Moore

After a journalistic career spanning some 40 years, Mark Moore sat down in 2000 at the age of 60 to fulfil a life-long promise to himself – to write books.

Better late than never because Moore’s extensive and profound knowledge of military history science, space and literature all feature in thrilling detail and accuracy in his oeuvre of published work.

First was ‘The Hannibal Walk’ an account of his own epic trek across Spain and the French Alps to Italy retracing the footsteps of the great Carthaginian general Hannibal. Drawing on his experience as a long-distance walker and his encyclopaedic knowledge of military history, this adventure is also seeking an answer. Where precisely did Hannibal make his crossing – a subject that has occupied experts for years.
Next to come was ‘Mayday Grey’ an inspirational adventure peopled by talking animals and inspired by his own great love of nature and wildlife.
‘Pillar Eight’ followed. A World War II story set in the Egyptian Desert about the little known Polish involvement in breaking the Enigma machine. Moore’s first-hand knowledge of the geography of the region gained during his time as deputy editor of Middle East Construction magazine and also his rigorous understanding of military history which he studied at University come to the fore.
Stepping Over Bodies’, Moore’s next book is a rollercoaster ride of the excesses of the 1980s and his own personal experiences as a Fleet Street journalist.
Science, space and technological advancements are the themes for Moore’s next book ‘2112’ a science fiction novel of the future, set in a time when women are running the world all based on proven scientific discovery and extrapolated with convincing detail.
